Who would have thought the 23rd Dec 2017 was going to be part of U’s history for the wrong reasons.

on the 12th Dec 1998 the U’s lost at home to Birmingham City for a then record 7-1 defeat. Dean Windass getting the U’s goal.

The team that day:

Oxford: M Salmon, L Robinson, P Powell, M Gray, B Wilsterman, P Gilchrist, C Remy (N Banger, 68), D Smith, A Thomson (M Murphy, 68), D Windass, J Beauchamp.

Subs not used: A Rose

However the monkey on those players backs have now been removed by this crop of players who were 2nd best to Wigan losing 7-0

Oxford: S Eastwood, D Tiendalli, J Mousinho, Ricardinho, M Williamson, J Ruffles (R Ledson, 62), J Payne (J Rothwell, 45), J Henry, Xemi (J Obika, 45), A Mowatt, W Thomas.

Subs not used: A Martin, G van Kessel, C Carroll, S Shearer

After being dumped out of the EFL Cup and FA Cup at early stages the club decided to take the players away on a warm break under the guise of refreshing their batteries.

Just as well then as without that break we could have been looking at a double figure score.

With the clubs major assets gone during the summer and very little of that reinvested back into the club the future looks bleak. The U’s are certainly looking more likely to be slipping down the table rather than pushing on trying to push into the play offs.

What will the next few weeks bring in our build up to 2018.

A take over? New manager? new players?
