Magic Marvin Johnson, 26 has left the U’s for Championship side Middlesborough.

The flying winger arrived at Oxford United on transfer deadline day 31st Aug 2016 for a reported £650,000 fee. Exactly a year on He’s joined the North East side for for a fee believed to be £2.5 million which could rise above £3m.

As part of the deal between Oxford and Motherwell the yellows will pass over 25% of the transfer fee recieved.

Marvin was seen at the time as a replacement for Kemar Roofe as an attacking player who would add goals as well as assists.

His pace and ability to drift past players were soon evident to U’s fans. However injuries to the left back meant the U’s had to switch Marvin to left back, which to be fair he did well at.

Not a great tackler he often made up with his lack of defensive attributes with his turn of pace and ability to bring the ball out of defence.
