U’s Show Interest in Bristol City Winger

|

Oxford United have been linked with a move for Bristol City midfielder, Hakeeb Adelakun, according to former football agent, James Goodwin.

The 24-year-old, who had youth spells at West Ham United and Crystal Palace, started his career at Scunthorpe United. The winger would score 20 goals from 169 appearances over six seasons for the Iron.

However, after his contract expired, Adelakun joined Bristol City. The winger made just five appearances for the Championship side over two seasons but made nine appearances while on loan at Rotherham United. He was part of the Millers side that won promotion from League One.

Despite Oxford reportedly showing interest, it is believed that Rotherham boss Paul Warne would like to see the winger return to the New York Stadium. Sunderland also displayed interest, but that appears to have cooled off.

If the U’s do sign the 24-year-old, he would become the second winger through the door already this window, having signed Joel Cooper from Linfield.

Oxford boss Karl Robinson is still keen in bringing Marcus Browne and Nathan Holland back to the club after successful loan spells from Middlesbrough and West Ham respectively, but the enforced salary cap could put a halt to those moves.
