U’s Suffer Injury Blow In Cup Victory

|

Oxford United have confirmed that Malachi Napa has suffered a broken leg as the U’s knocked Peterborough United out of the Carabao Cup.

The 20-year-old, who started up front as a replacement for Jamie Mackie, suffered the injury just nineteen minutes into the tie. Despite initially standing up, Napa was stretchered off and made an immediate visit to the hospital.

Boss Karl Robinson, who visited Napa in hospital after the game, told the club’s website: “He is a very positive young man. He knows that we have a fantastic medical and physio team who will do all they can to help him. As a club, we, will be there for him and will give him all the support he needs.”

It’s a blow for both Napa and the club. It looked likely that the winger would be loaned out again this season, but Robinson conceded that he could play a part during this campaign.

However, the injury will be a major set back for both, and we hope for a speedy recovery.
