U’s to Face Non-League Opposition In FA Cup Third-Round

|

Oxford United will face non-league Hartlepool United in the third round of the FA Cup after they knocked out Exeter City in a second-round replay.

The Pools saw off the League Two side thanks to an extra-time winner after their first-round clash ended 2-2 at St James Park.

The Vanarama National League side are 14th in the division with just one win from their last six league games.

The U’s, who reached the third round with wins over Hayes and Yeading United and Walsall, have made it to the third round in six of the last eight seasons but bowed out last time after defeat at Brentford.

Karl Robinson’s have also won four out of the last six meetings with Hartlepool, with the National League Premier side winning just once.

Oxford have seven games before their FA Cup clash, including a last eight Carabao Cup tie against Manchester City and league encounter against high flying Wycombe.

The cup match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 4.
