U’s ‘Vying to Bring’ Arsenal Youngster

|

Oxford United are one of three League One teams “vying to bring” Arsenal’s Jack Henry-Francis to their club, according to Football League World.

All three sides missed out on promotion last season and have identified the 18-year-old midfielder as a potential loan option ahead of the new campaign.

According to the report, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is willing to allow the midfielder to spend time away on loan next season.

Henry-Francis has featured regularly at Premier League 2 level and the defensive-minded midfielder has also represented the Republic of Ireland at youth level on the international stage.

The U’s could be in the market for central midfielders and acquiring the youngster may be a wise move should manager Karl Robinson select two holding midfielders, with Henry-Francis an option to play alongside Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, who himself recently penned a new deal.

However, with Cameron Brannagan, Marcus McGuane, James Henry, Oisin Smyth Anthony Forde and Ben Davis, along with Gorrin, already a the club, Robinson may look for reinforcements elsewhere on the pitch.
