“We have to get wins away from home” – Gorrin Looking for Three Points

Oxford United will be looking to continue their recent winning run when the U’s take on Shrewsbury Town later this afternoon.

A victory would be a fifth league win in a row – something the U’s haven’t achieved since April 2008 – and would move them back into the top six with Wycombe, not in action.

Four of Oxford’s recent wins have come at home, with victory at Ipswich the U’s only victory from their last five games on the road.

Midfielder Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, who spoke to the Oxford Mail, said the squad need to be more clinical in these crucial games if they’re to finish in the top six.

He said: “It has to change – if we want to achieve the goal we have to get wins away from home. We know we are very strong at home, but we need to get more points away.

“There’s no such thing, every game in this league is very hard. It will be tough, so we have to be at our best to make sure we get the three points.”

Gorrin, who has made 39 appearances this season following his summer move from Motherwell, has been a key figure for Karl Robinson this term but has heaped praise on the clubs deadly duo in Matty Taylor and James Henry.

The pair have netted nine of the clubs 11 goals during their four game-winning run, with Henry also providing seven of Taylor’s 17 goals.

The midfielder added: “Just give it to Jamo, he puts it in the box and Matty scores. It’s pretty simple. When they’re in this great form we try to look for them.

“If you put it in the box Matty is going to score, he can smell a goal and it’s really good when you have a player like that.”
