Blackpool winger Owen Dale has “agreed a deal” to join Oxford United, according to Pete O’Rourke.

The 25-year-old was in attendance as Oxford drew against league leaders Portsmouth on Tuesday night, with U’s head coach Des Buckingham saying after the game that “there’s probably some more news in the next 24 hours” when asked about the winger.

O’Rourke adds that the Blackpool man will join the U’s on a permanent deal before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Oxford are in the market for wingers with injuries to Marcus Browne, Kyle Edwards and Josh Murphy, while Stanley Mills has been recalled by Everton after picking up an injury and Billy Bodin has also spent time on the sidelines.

The U’s have brought in Tyler Burey on loan from Danish side, Odense, but need more reinforcements if they are hoping to continue their promotion push.

The winger, who can play on either flank, has also played as a wing-back for Neil Critchley’s Seasiders, and with Fin Stevens being forced off against Pompey, it gives Buckingham another option to call upon.
