Oxford United could be set to sign Blackpool winger, Owen Dale, according to Jerome Sale.

The BBC Radio Oxford Sport’s reporter said after Oxford’s 2-2 draw against Portsmouth that the former Pompey man was in attendance at Grenoble Road.

He said: “Owen Dale, the Blackpool winger, looks like he might have been watching the game here tonight in the Oxford United executive area.”

Speaking after the game, U’s head coach Des Buckingham added: “There’s probably some more news in the next 24 hours,” when asked about the 25-year-old’s attendance.

Dale has played 23 times in League One this season, scoring once and adding one assist. The winger can also play on either flank but prefers the right, which is an area that Buckingham needs cover.

So far, Oxford have brought in Tyler Burey and Will Goodwin in the attacking areas but the U’s are still looking for another two additions in the forward areas.

With injuries to Fin Stevens and Jamie Cumming against Pompey, the U’s may also be in the market for another right back and goalkeeper.
