Oxford United have reignited their interest in Fleetwood striker, Jack Marriott, according to Alan Nixon.

The 29-year-old was a target for the U’s in the summer and reportedly saw a £500,000 bid rejected for the forward.

However, Marriott has since been placed on the transfer list by the League One strugglers and Oxford remain interested.

According to Football Insider, Wrexham and Stevenage are also believed to be in for the former Peterborough man.

Oxford have Mark Harris and January signing Will Goodwin as available strikers, with youngster Gatlin O’Donkor looking likely to leave on loan.

If the U’s are serious about achieving promotion from League One this year then additional firepower up top could go a long way in securing that.

The striker has scored five times from 24 appearances in League One this season, but his experience and versatility could help push the U’s over the line should they land their man.
