Oxford United have seen a £400,000 bid rejected by Fleetwood for striker Jack Marriott, according to TEAMtalk.
The 28-year-old was also of interest to the U’s in January but Peterborough rejected their loan offer before the striker joined the Cod Army on a permanent deal.
Marriott then netted eight goals in just 19 appearances for Fleetwood, having also scored seven times for the Posh the before his move.
The striker has had a handful of double-figure goal-scoring seasons, notching 12 in 22 while on loan at Woking in the National League and 14 in 40 League Two appearances for Luton.
However, it was the 2017/18 season when he made a significant breakthrough, scoring 27 goals for Peterborough in 44 League One appearances.
A big-money move to Derby followed where Marriott netted ten Championship goals in 69 appearances before making a return to London Road.
When he joined Fleetwood, Marriott penned a two-and-a-half year deal for a “substantial undisclosed fee”, meaning the U’s will need to up their offer if they want to land the 28-year-old.
And it’s a position the club need cover, with summer signing Mark Harris and youngster Gatlin O’Donkor the only recognised senior strikers in the squad.
