Oxford United are yet to bring any new faces through the doors at the Kassam during this January transfer window, but there could be a return for two former U’s players.

Middlesbrough midfielder Marcus Browne looks set to leave the club on a temporary basis this month, and reports from talkSPORT suggest that the U’s could be a possible destination for the 22-year-old.

The former West Ham United youngster spent last season on loan with the U’s and scored nine goals and provided five assists in 44 appearances in all competitions for Karl Robinson’s side.

Although he would be a decent acquisition, the League One side could face competition from Championship side Charlton Athletic who have an injury hit squad.

The other possible Oxford return could be left-back, Ricardinho.

Robinson has indicated he wants a second choice left-back and the Brazilian could be an ideal candidate.

The 35-year-old made 39 appearances for the U’s, scoring three times, before being loaned out to Dutch side FC Twente, where he made 20 appearances.

Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “It’s a crazy one and I know the fans will get excited, but even Ricardinho came up yesterday as a second-choice left back.

“His agent called me yesterday out of the blue. He would certainly suit the way we play now.

“We’ll see, we do need a second choice left back. In an ideal world we’d like one who is 20 that we could develop.”
