Oxford United will be hoping to return to action when AFC Wimbledon visit Grenoble Road on Wednesday.

The U’s lost their last fixture against Wigan before their Boxing Day trip to Portsmouth was postponed due to Covid. It was the same story for the Dons who were due to face Charlton but they also saw their previous fixture against Pompey postponed.

Before the loss against the Latics, Karl Robinson’s side had gone nine league games unbeaten. The Dons are also on a five-game unbeaten run in all competitions and are through to the third round of the FA Cup.

Oxford will be able to welcome back midfielders Cameron Brannagan and Herbie Kane from their self-isolation along with Luke McNally and Sam Winnall. Nathan Holland, who missed the match against Wigan with injury, returned to training before Christmas and Jordan Thorniley has returned from his one-match suspension. However, the U’s are without James Henry.

For AFC, striker Aaron Pressley is absent with a hamstring injury but Watford loanee Dapo Mebude and goalkeeper Zaki Oualah have returned after testing positive for Covid.

Ollie Palmer and Jack Rudoni are the Dons’ joint-top scorers this season with seven, while midfielders Ayoub Assal and Luke McCormick have added a further 11. Defender Will Nightingale has also found the net four times.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Steve Seddon, Jordan Thorniley, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Herbie Kane, Cameron Brannagan, Marcus McGuane, Gavin Whyte, Mark Sykes, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-0 AFC Wimbledon
