Oxford United will return to league action on Tuesday night when Fleetwood Town visit Grenoble Road.

The U’s didn’t play on Saturday after their League One clash at Wigan was postponed just three-and-a-half hours before kickoff after an outbreak of coronavirus in the Oxford camp. As a result, they have 14 first-choice players to choose from.

Despite manager Karl Robinson insisting the club tried to get the game on, it was cancelled following talks with the EFL and the Latics.

Meanwhile, Fleetwood lost to a 94th-minute strike at home against rivals Morecambe, meaning their winless run has stretched to seven games in all competitions.

Oxford are without Jack Stevens, Sam Winnall and Alex Rodriguez Gorrin through injury, while John Mousinho, Jordan Thorniley, Elliott Moore, Mark Sykes, Simon Eastwood, Matty Taylor and Anthony Forde all tested positive for COVID-19 before the match at the DW Stadium. Young goalkeeper Kie Plumley is also isolating after coming into close contact, leaving the U’s without an option between the sticks. As a result, the club are looking to sign an emergency loan goalkeeper.

Fleetwood will be without Anthony Pilkington after his red card against Morecambe. Darnell Johnson and Brad Halliday are out through injury and there are doubts over James Hill and Jordan Rossiter.

Left-back Danny Andrew has scored six goals and laid on four assists this season, while strikers Callum Morton and Gerard Garner have added 12 goals between them.

Oxford famously have a dismal record against the Cod Army with their only win in 13 Football League meetings coming last season. Fleetwood have won ten of those meetings.

Predicted line-up: Goalkeeper – none currently available – Jamie Hanson, Sam Long, Luke McNally, Steve Seddon, Herbie Kane, Cameron Brannagan, Marcus McGuane, Nathan Holland, James Henry, Gavin Whyte.

Prediction: Oxford United 1-0 Fleetwood Town.
