Oxford United will be looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats with a positive performance at Portsmouth.

The U’s lost in the Football League Trophy during the week before falling to a 2-1 defeat at home to Peterborough in League One.

As for Pompey, they started the season well but only picked up a first win in six last time out with victory over Forest Green.

Matty Taylor is suspended and won’t be available until the U’s face Woking in the FA Cup but Lewis Bate could make a return. Sam Baldock and Josh Murphy are still out, as is James Henry with a calf injury.

Portsmouth have Jayden Reid, Joe Rafferty and Louis Thompson out while Tom Lowery and Michael Jacobs are both doubts.

Billy Bodin opened his U’s account for the season against the Posh while Cameron Brannagan has scored seven with Kyle Joseph behind on five.

Fifth-placed Pompey have top scorer Colby Bishop with eight goals while Ronan Curtis sits behind on five.

Both sides picked up dramatic 3-2 wins last season with Oxford coming from 2-1 down in the home fixture before suffering in the reverse. Oxford are without a win in six visits to Fratton Park, with three draws and three defeats.
