Oxford United’s pursuit of Ipswich left-back Greg Leigh is waiting on the Tractor Boys to bring in a new addition.

This comes from Stuart Watson of the East Anglian Daily Times who claims that the Championship side is looking to sign Brandon Williams.

The Manchester United full-back, who is entering the final year of his contract, worked under Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna during his time at Old Trafford.

Reports claim that the 22-year-old is “poised to join” the Tractor Boys, which is good news for the U’s.

Watson adds that should Ipswich sign the defender, then left-back Greg Leigh would be allowed to join Oxford.

The 28-year-old, who joined McKenna’s side last summer from Morecambe, managed 20 appearances over the campaign but the form of Leif Davis hampered his first-team chances.

However, he would add an attacking option in the position for head coach Liam Manning, something which current left-back Ciaron Brown struggles with. It also gives the head coach further squad depth ahead of what could be a big season for the U’s.
