Oxford United and Sheffield Wednesday are battling it out to sign Swansea City striker, Kyle Joseph, according to WalesOnline.

The 20-year-old has featured for Russell Martin’s side throughout pre-season but is yet to make a dent in the senior side, with most of his appearances coming in the U21s.

He was also left out of the Swans’ trip to Rotherham in their Championship opener last weekend.

Now, a loan move away looks likely with the two League One clubs casting an eye on the striker.

Joseph joined the Swans last summer from Wigan and turned out twice in the Carabao Cup before sealing a loan move to Cheltenham Town, where he scored four times in 22 appearances.

Despite that, he was recalled by Martin just halfway through his season-long loan before making ten substitute appearances for the Swans.

Oxford are in need of a striker with Matty Taylor currently the only fit number nine. Karl Robinson also has Sam Baldock to call on, but he is out with a thigh injury.
