Oxford United will face Newcastle United in the fourth round of the FA Cup after the Premier League side beat Rochdale 4-1 in their third-round replay.

The U’s, who knocked the Magpies out of the same competition at the same stage three years ago, will face the long journey north with the games due to be played the weekend of January 25.

Karl Robinson’s side have only faced sides in lower leagues than them so far, knocking out Hayes and Yeading United, Walsall and Hartlepool United during their cup run.

Oxford beat The Toon Army at this stage three seasons ago, coming out as 3-0 winners against Rafa Benitez’s side, but you’d have to go back to 1993 for their previous encounter.

The U’s are likely to send a huge number of supporters to St James Park as they look to reach the fifth round for the first time since 2017.
