Oxford United are one of three League One sides showing interest in Fleetwood Town midfielder Harrison Biggins, according to Football Insider.

The 24-year-old is having an impressive loan spell in League Two with Barrow, where he has scored once and provided three assists from 25 appearances.

But with Biggins out of contract in the summer, Oxford face competition from Plymouth Argyle and MK Dons to sign the midfielder, either during the January transfer window or at the end of the season.

Biggins joined the Cod Army in 2017 from non-league side Stocksbridge Park Steels. He has since surpassed 50 appearances for the League One side.

The U’s may have the upper hand over their League One rivals. Oxford are above both Plymouth and MK Dons in the table and are currently on an 11 game unbeaten run following a 4-3 win at Rochdale on Tuesday night. The U’s welcome Biggins’ parent club Fleetwood on Saturday.

The move would make sense for Oxford. With Marcus McGuane and Liam Kelly set to return to their parent clubs and with Jamie Hanson, Mark Sykes and Anthony Forde out of contract in the summer, the club could have a shortage of midfielders.
