Oxford United striker Dan Agyei has joined League One rivals Crewe Alexandra for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old joined the U’s from Burnley in 2019 and made 93 appearances for the club. During that time, the striker netted 11 goals.

Speaking to the club’s official website, U’s boss Karl Robinson said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Dan but he needs game time and we hope things work out well for him with a new start.

“We certainly wish him well and thank him for his efforts here.”

The striker will be remembered for his winning strike against rivals Swindon Town last season along with a brace in a 3-2 win over Shrewsbury.

However, inconsistency was a constant during his time at the club and he managed just 12 league starts during his tenure.

His departure leaves Oxford with just Matty Taylor and Sam Winnall as the club’s only recognised strikers with the transfer closing in a matter of days.
