Oxford United Finally Announce 22-year-old Acquisition

|

It’s taken a while but Oxford United have finally announced Chris Cadden as their third senior summer signing.

The 22-year-old arrives on a season-long loan after signing for MLS side, Columbus Crew, following his decision to leave Motherwell.

Cadden spent much of last season playing as a wing-back for the SPL side, but the right midfielder can also play centrally. The Scottish international also spent four months out due to injury, limiting his game time.

The winger made his debut for the club in 2013 and has made over 120 appearances for them. Cadden has 12 caps for the U21 Scottish side and made his senior debut in 2008 before adding his second cap.

On July 4th, we reported that the 22-year-old midfielder was an interest to MLS side, Columbus Crew. Prior to that, on the 30th June, we broke the news that Sunderland was looking at Cadden, despite the U’s already agreeing on a compensation deal with the Scottish side.

But finally, the U’s have got their man and Cadden becomes a yellow. He follows fellow Well midfielder, Alex Gorrin, to the club, who himself signed on June 21.

It’s a major boost for Karl Robinson, not only has it taken so long to get this deal over the line, but also the lack of summer signings hasn’t helped the manager. The fans, despite the lack of new additions, will be relieved this deal has been done, and look forward to welcoming their new signing.
