Oxford United travel to Loftus Road on Tuesday night as they face QPR in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

The U’s exited the competition at this stage last season with defeat against Championship opposition as Watford progressed on penalties.

Karl Robinson’s side lost their first game of the season on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat at Bolton, while the R’s remain unbeaten after their 2-2 draw with Barnsley.

Former U’s defender Rob Dickie is the top scorer for QPR with three goals, while Chris Willock and Lyndon Dykes have both added two, although the latter could miss out through illness.

Left-wing-back Lee Wallace is out with a hamstring injury and his replacement Sam McCallum is yet to play through illness. Moses Odubajo is coming back off a ban but Jordy De Wijs twisted his ankle at the weekend.

As for the U’s, there are still without Jamie Hanson, Sam Long and Billy Bodin. James Henry and Ryan Williams are also sidelined but could return for Saturday’s game against Lincoln.

The two sides haven’t met in a competitive game since 1999 when QPR won 1-0 at Loftus Road in Division 1. However, the U’s won the home game 4-1. From the last ten meetings, Oxford have three wins while the R’s have been victorious on five occasions. Of course, the most famous meeting between the two clubs came in the final of this competition in 1986, which Oxford won 3-0 at Wembley.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Steve Seddon, Jordan Thorniley, Elliott Moore, Anthony Forde, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Cameron Brannagan, Marcus McGuane, Nathan Holland, Gavin Whyte, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: QPR 1-1 Oxford United
