Preview: League One – Oxford United v Crewe Alexandra

|

Oxford United will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season when the U’s welcome Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night.

Karl Robinson’s side drew at Cambridge on the opening day before seeing off Charlton at the weekend. The U’s have also progressed to the second round of the Carabao Cup, where they will face QPR, after knocking out Burton on penalties.

Crewe also drew against a newly promoted side on the opening day with a 1-1 stalemate against Cheltenham but lost 2-0 to Portsmouth at the weekend. The Alex face a trip to Elland Road in the second round of the cup after edging past Hartlepool in the first round.

The visitors finished last season in 12th place. David Artell has seen six players leave Gresty Road but has also seen six new arrivals.

Oxford could welcome back Elliott Moore after missing last weeks games with a chest infection but Sam Long remains a doubt. Anthony Forde could return after missing out against the Addicks.

Oxford secured a 6-0 win at Crewe last season but suffered a 2-0 defeat at home – a third loss in a row against their opponents.

Predicted line-up: Jack Stevens, Steve Seddon, Jordan Thorniley, Elliott Moore, Anthony Forde, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Cameron Brannagan, Marcus McGuane, Nathan Holland, Billy Bodin, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-0 Crewe Alexandra.
