Preview: League One – Oxford United vs MK Dons

|

Oxford United will be looking to pick up some points on Tuesday night as they prepare for a home game against MK Dons.

The U’s have made a slow start to the new season, winning just once and losing four games in the league. As a result, Karl Robinson’s side sit bottom of the table ahead of their clash against one of his former clubs.

Oxford lost 2-0 at Peterborough United at the weekend, while the Dons saw off an in-form Gillingham side in what was their first win of the new season.

Russell Martin’s side have scored six times and conceded eight goals from their six league games, while the U’s have conceded ten and scored five from five, with four coming in their only win at Accrington.

Experienced summer signing Richard Keogh has featured three times this season, while veteran forward Cameron Jerome opened his Dons account against the Gills. Former Oxford loanee Carlton Morris has scored twice, with right-back Callum Brittain providing two assists already.

The U’s have managed just one goal in their last two games, and have had a league fixture against Crewe Alexandra postponed on two separate occasions. Robinson’s side are in desperate need of picking up three points and building some much-needed momentum.

However, it was the Dons that ended their momentum last season. The U’s were on an 18-game unbeaten run in all competitions but a 1-0 victory for Tuesdays visitors ended that streak.

The U’s look like giving Alex Rodriguez Gorrin his first start of the season as he returns from injury, and there could also be a return for Rob Atkinson in the centre of defence. Sam Winnall could replace Matty Taylor up top, having not scored since the win at Accrington. Cameron Brannagan also missed the Peterborough loss, and he could return.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Josh Ruffels, Rob Atkinson, Elliott Moore, Sean Clare, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Anthony Forde, Marcus McGuane, Dan Agyei, James Henry, Sam Winnall.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-0 MK Dons
