Oxford United will be looking to bounce back from Tuesday night’s defeat at Plough Lane when the U’s take on Plymouth Argyle.

Karl Robinson’s side lost 2-1 against AFC Wimbledon, ending a run of three successive wins. It also saw the U’s fall back out of the playoffs by one point, but have played more games than the teams around them.

As for Plymouth, they were beaten heavily by the side that replaced Oxford in sixth place as Charlton ran out 6-0 winners at Home Park. As a result, Ryan Lowe’s side are without a win in four and have managed just two wins from their last 12 games. The Pilgrims have also failed to win in their last eight away fixtures.

However, it’s been a relatively comfortable return to League One for Plymouth, who sit 16th in the table on 53 points, leaving the remaining games with little to play for.

It’s been a brilliant season for striker, Luke Jephcott. The 21-year-old has netted 16 league goals this season but hasn’t found the back of the net since scoring a brace against Portsmouth in February – 17 games ago. Ryan Hardie has six goals and sevens assists while midfielder Joe Edwards has added eight goals.

However, the Pilgrims have struggled in defence this season, having conceded 73 league goals. Only Swindon Town’s total of 79 is more.

Defender Will Aimson is a major injury doubt while Conor Grant also looks set to stay on the sidelines. For Oxford, Brandon Barker and Cameron Brannagan have been ruled out through injury while James Henry is suspended after his sending off against the Dons.

The U’s won the reverse fixture at Home Park back in December and have lost just twice from their last ten league meetings. However, one of those losses came at Grenoble Road.

Predicted line-up: Jack Stevens, Josh Ruffels, Rob Atkinson, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Mark Sykes, Anthony Forde, Mide Shodipo, Elliot Lee, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-0 Plymouth Argyle
