Oxford United will be looking to bounce back from their opening-day defeat when they travel to Bristol City in the Carabao Cup.

Liam Manning’s side lost 2-0 at Cambridge on the opening weekend of the new League One campaign.

As for the Robins, they played out a 1-1 draw against Preston in their first Championship fixture of the season.

Former Oxford defender Rob Dickie made his competitive debut for Bristol City while Mark Sykes came on in the second half. Rob Atkinson is currently out with a knee injury.

Manning said after his side’s defeat that he will still field a strong side, although there may be a couple of alterations to give minutes to certain players.

These two sides haven’t met since 2014 when Oxford won 2-1 in this competition at Ashton Gate. The meeting before that also resulted in an away win for the U’s in the same competition.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Fin Stevens, Stephan Negru, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Marcus McGuane, Cameron Brannagan, Billy Bodin, Marcus Browne, Stan Mills, Mark Harris.

Prediction: Bristol City 1-1 Oxford United
