Oxford United turn their attention back to league football this weekend when the U’s travel to Carlisle.

The U’s have been knocked out of both cup competitions in the last week, losing 6-2 at Coventry in the FA Cup before a 2-0 defeat at AFC Wimbledon in the Football League Trophy.

Carlisle have just one win from their last 11 league games and are just two points above bottom-placed Fleetwood. However, that victory did come in their most recent home fixture against Port Vale.

Oxford, who lost three loanees in Stan Mills, Kyle Edwards and James Beadle earlier this week, could finally welcome back Greg Leigh from injury, with Josh Murphy and Sam Long also not far behind. Elliott Moore should be available after missing the last two games with illness. Des Buckingham also has two new arrivals in Tyler Burey and Jamie Cumming, who are available.

Joshua Kayode, Terry Ablade and Jokull Andresson are all absent for the hosts, while Paul Huntingdon, Fin Back and Callum Guy are doubts.

The Cumbrians have found goals hard to come by, with midfielder Jordan Gibson their top scorer on eight. Only three teams in League One have scored fewer.

Mark Harris ended his recent goal drought and has scored two in his last three, while Cameron Brannagan has eight, Billy Bodin seven and both Tyler Goodrham and Ruben Rodrigues have six.

Oxford won the reverse fixture, with Harris netting his first goal of the season in a 1-0 win at Grenoble Road. The U’s are also unbeaten in their last four meetings against Carlisle, winning three, including a 2-0 win on their last visit.

Predicted line-up: Jamie Cumming, Greg Leigh, Ciaron Brown, Elliott Moore, Fin Stevens, Cameron Brannagan, Marcus McGuane, Billy Bodin, Ruben Rodrigues, Tyler Goodrham, Mark Harris.

Prediction: Carlisle United 0-2 Oxford United
