Oxford United return to league action this weekend with a trip to promotion rivals, Peterborough.

Des Buckingham oversaw his first wins in charge in the FA Cup as the U’s eased past Grimsby before edging past Forest Green in the Football League Trophy.

Peterborough also made it through to the third round of the FA Cup with victory over Doncaster and progressed in the Trophy. Posh are unbeaten in their last four league games, scoring 11 goals in the process.

Greg Leigh, Kyle Edwards, Marcus Browne and Sam Long are all absent for Oxford. Jeando Fuchs and Will Blackmore are both out for the hosts.

Oxford have found goals hard to come by in recent weeks with the U’s failing to find the back of the net in either of Buckingham’s opening two league games.

Posh are scoring plenty. Ephron Mason-Clark has ten goals and four assists, Kwame Poku has eight goals and eight assists while Jonson Clarke-Harris, who has often been used as a substitute, has also added eight goals. Midfielder Joel Randall has chipped in with six goals and seven assists while left-back Harrison Burrows has five assists and three goals.

Oxford are without a win in the last six meetings between the two sides, losing four. The U’s also haven’t won in their last four visits to London Road but did manage a draw last season.

Predicted line-up: James Beadle, Ciaron Brown, Jordan Thorniley, Elliott Moore, Joe Bennett, Marcus McGuane, Cameron Brannagan, Fin Stevens, Billy Bodin, Ruben Rodrigues, Mark Harris.

Prediction: Peterborough United 1-1 Oxford United
