Oxford United will be looking to bounce back from their hammering at Bolton when they travel to strugglers, Port Vale.

The U’s lost 5-0 on Tuesday night – their heaviest defeat of the season. It means Des Buckingham’s side also have just two wins in 12.

However, Port Vale aren’t exactly in the best form themselves, having failed to win in 13 games – a run which stretches back to December, 29.

With Oxford failing to have a shot on target against Bolton, it may be time to give a first start to January signing, Will Goodwin. The U’s could also be boosted by the potential return from injury of winger, Tyler Goodrham.

The Valiants are without Uche Ikpeazu, while Dan Gore is also a doubt.

Port Vale won the reverse fixture earlier in the season but the U’s are unbeaten in their previous five league meetings, winning three. However, the two draws both came on the road.

Predicted line-up: Jamie Cumming, Greg Leigh, Ciaron Brown, Elliott Moore, Fin Stevens, Marcus McGuane, Cameron Brannagan, Owen Dale, Billy Bodin, Josh Murphy, Will Goodwin.

Prediction: Port Vale 0-1 Oxford United
