Oxford United continued their unbeaten away run as they were held to a draw at Shrewsbury.

The U’s took the lead through top scorer Cameron Brannagan but the hosts levelled the game with a corner in the second half.

Here are three talking points from the game.

Line-Up

Following Karl Robinson’s comments post-match last time out against Fleetwood when he dismissed Djavan Anderson as a right back, but he started the game as a right back.

Also, following their respective suspensions, Billy Bodin and Matty Taylor made an immediate return to the starting line-up. Despite not scoring in the league this season, Taylor was maybe not a surprise inclusion but Bodin’s selection was questioned when Lewis Bate has performed well in recent weeks.

Slow Start But Goal Against the Run of Play

Oxford started the game on the back foot and could have found themselves a goal behind in the opening exchanges. However, the U’s struck against the run of play and it turned the tide.

In typical Brannagan style, the midfielder struck an effort from outside the box which deflected into the Shrewsbury net.

However, the midfielder also picked up his fifth booking of the season, meaning he is suspended for the visit of Port Vale on Saturday.

Joseph Injury

A real turning point in the game came in the first half with Kyle Joseph being taken off on a stretcher with a severe injury.

The Swansea loanee has been one of the club’s bright sparks this season and his absence could be a major blow, particularly with the number of injuries the U’s already have.
