Oxford United returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Lincoln City. The U’s bounced back from defeats at Bolton and QPR to move up to third in League One. Here are three talking points from the game.

James Henry

Having scored his first-ever hat-trick, James Henry is the obvious talking point. The midfielder, who returned from injury having missed the last two games, looked sharp, confident and clinical.

The 32-year-old has often adopted a shoot on sight policy and it worked wonders against the Imps. The first two goals both came from outside the box with sweet strikes and it’s a part of his game that lacked last season. He completed the hat-trick from the penalty spot for the second time this season.

Penalties Conceded

Despite the comfortable scoreline, Oxford will be disappointed with conceding another penalty. Now, three of the five league goals the U’s have allowed in the league have come from the spot.

Sam Winnall, who also conceded a penalty against Charlton, was at fault again against Lincoln.

Jordan Thorniley

Once again, defender Jordan Thorniley produced yet another solid display in defence. The Blackpool loanee looked comfortable in the air and borough the ball out from the back with ease.

Having been rested against QPR, a break appears to have also helped given he had played every minute of the campaign so far.
