Oxford United manager Karl has played down talks linking him with the managerial role at Championship club, Birmingham City.

It is the second time in the space of a month that the U’s boss has been linked with a move to the second tier after reports suggested Bournemouth had identified the 40-year-old as a possible replacement for Jason Tindall.

However, Robinson has been quick to nullify any potential link away and admits he is happy at Grenoble Road.

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, Robinson said: “This football club’s so exciting now.

“I often talk about what’s building here and what I have the flexibility to do.

“I’d love to make this a top-30 club in England over the next five years.

“That might sound like a ridiculous statement, because that means a top-ten team in the Championship really competing to get to the level above.

“We have long-term plans – sometimes it means the medium and short-term implications could be negative, but we have a long-term goal.”

Robinson is closing in on three years at the club having been appointed in March 2018. During his time with the U’s, he has seen relegation threats and promotion pushes, alongside cup runs, broken records and some exciting signings.

On top of that, the Oxford manager has only recently signed a new deal, keeping him at the club until 2024.
