Oxford United could be set to sign Queens Park Rangers striker Macauley Bonne on loan, according to East Anglian Daily Times reporter Stuart Watson.

The 26-year-old striker has piqued the interest of the U’s, who could face a battle with League One rivals Bolton and Charlton.

The Zimbabwe international returned to his hometown club Ipswich Town on loan last season from the R’s, where he scored 12 times in 43 League One matches.

The striker has managed just 16 minutes of Championship football at Loftus Road this season so both parties are eager for a loan move.

Bonne joined Rangers from Charlton in 2020 but he managed just three goals in 39 appearances.

The U’s currently have Matty Taylor and Swansea City loanee Kyle Joseph in attack, with Sam Baldock out injured at the moment. U’s boss Karl Robinson has utilised youth players Slavi Spasov and Gatlin O’Donkor but the duo could be sent on loan before the window closes.

Earlier this week, Oxford were linked with Everton striker Tom Cannon.
