Oxford United are one of several League One sides that are interested in Ipswich Town striker James Norwood, according to Football League World.

The former Tranmere Rovers forward has fallen out of favour at Portman Road under Paul Cook and has managed just 21 minutes of league football this season.

The 31-year-old has also been training with the U23 squad, highlighting just how much he isn’t part of Cook’s plans.

However, the U’s are in a battle with Plymouth Argyle, Lincoln City and Portsmouth for the striker’s signature in January, although his current contract expires in the summer.

With the futures of Dan Agyei and Sam Winnall uncertain, a new striking option is certainly an area of the pitch that Oxford will look to add strength to in the January transfer window, with Matty Taylor the club’s only recognised centre forward.

Norwood joined the Tractor Boys in 2019 and has scored 22 goals in 66 appearances.
