“We switched off in key areas” – Robinson Reflects on Huge Loss

|

Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has called his players in for an unscheduled training session tomorrow after his side lost heavily at Peterborough.

The Posh had a one-goal advantage at the break despite a relatively even first half, but the second half saw the leagues highest scoring side run riot, despite being reduced to ten men.

Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “I don’t think I can come in on Monday and not talk about this game, but equally I’ve got to talk about the next game.

“So the best way round it is getting them in, getting the physios and massages in, get it done right and then when they come in on Monday we only talk about Burton.”

He added: “We switched off in key areas that we told them they were good at. They let you have possession and hit you on the break.

“We were weak in a lot of our tackles and pulled out of one or two things. We looked a bit off it in a number of different areas.

“It’s the first time I’ve really had to lose it with this team and they know exactly where I stand. That’s not what is expected and we’ll go through the goals tomorrow morning.”

The U’s have dropped to 10th but remain four points off the playoffs with their next game another away trip to Burton Albion, who sit one place and two points behind Robinson’s side.
