Wolves Sign U’s Youngster

|

Oxford United youngster, Tsun Dai, has joined Wolves Under 23 squad for an undisclosed fee.

The 19-year-old has agreed a two-year-deal, with the option of a further 12 months. He has experience of playing in the football league with Bury and joins the under-23s ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Dai arrived in the UK in 2012, after progressing through the Eastern Sports Club and Kitchee Academy systems in Hong Kong.

Following four seasons developing at Reading, the midfielder moved to Bury where made nine League One appearances, scoring once.

In the summer of 2018, Oxford signed the youngster, but after struggling for opportunities, he spent the second half of the campaign on loan at FC Utrecht, playing 12 times.

Dai has now linked up with Rob Edwards’ squad and will travel with the group to Spain for a pre-season training camp this weekend.

Edwards told the clubs official website: “Dai arrived here at the start of the month and has already settled into the group well. He’s a midfield player who wants to try and get on the ball and he’s got lots of energy.

“He’s got a good personality and will get an opportunity, like all of our players in the under-23s, to show what he can do.”

From an Oxford perspective, it’s a strange one. He failed to make an impression at the club, and hadn’t really had many opportunities whilst at Bury. The fact he’s made the move, potentially for a substantial fee, to the Premier League side shows maybe that the U’s were missing something from the Hong Kong man.
