Oxford United defender Elliott Moore has been targeted by Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson, according to the Oxford Mail.

The Robins manager watched Oxford’s 1-0 victory over MK Dons last week and was scouting the U’s skipper along with Steve Seddon, who was an unused substitute.

The 25-year-old defender is out of contract in the summer but U’s boss Karl Robinson revealed in February that the club have an option to trigger a further year.

He told the Oxford Mail: “People are saying his contract’s up in the summer, so don’t worry about Elliott Moore – he will be here next year if we want to take that option up.

“I’m sure you know as well as I do that we’ll be taking that option.”

Pearson has worked with Moore on two separate occasions with both Leicester City and the Foxes’ sister club in Belgium, OH Leuven.

It was with the Belgian club that Pearson appointed Moore as captain, having worked together for 18 months.

Moore joined the U’s in 2019 and has gone on to make 124 appearances. Some of those outings were alongside Rob Atkinson, who made the switch to Ashton Gate last summer.
