Dave Kitson blasts referee

Dave Kitson, 33, Oxford United’s giant striker stated on Radio Oxford after Saturdays match that Mark Brown ‘possibly the worst referee’ he has come across in his 13-year career.

A dubious penalty was awarded to Rovers in a game in which Oxford’s Alfie Potter also suffered a serious ankle injury.

Kitson’s comments were now being investigated by the Football Association.

Kitson also remarked ‘We have an incident where Alfie Potter is lying on the floor with his leg in a brace and he’s asking the referee about the challenge and the referee is swearing at him, telling him to shut up and warning him he will send him off if he doesn’t.

‘The lad is lying there with tears in his eyes with his leg in a brace and he cannot even talk to the referee.

Also in the match Ryan Williams was flying through on goal when a Rovers player took him out. No foul was given.

This isn’t the first time this season that referees have been mentioned after incidents in matches have either been missed or referees have misread a situation. Dave himself has accumulated more bookings than has really been warranted in my opinion.
