FA Cup Preview: Oxford United v Exeter City – Team News, Form and Prediction

|

Oxford United switch to FA Cup action this weekend when Exeter City visit Grenoble Road.

The U’s edged past National League side Woking in the first round while the Grecians were involved in a five-goal thriller on the road at Port Vale.

Oxford drew their following game against bottom-of-the-league Forest Green while Exeter picked up one win and one defeat from their next two league outings.

In addition to long-term absentees Yanic Wildschut, Josh Murphy and Sam Baldock, Oxford now have several more injury concerns. Kyle Joseph has been added to the list, while Elliott Moore missed the Forest Green match but should return. Sam Long did played last time out but Ciaron Brown (back), James Henry (calf), Marcus Browne (ankle), Matty Taylor (breathing), and Cameron Brannagan and Billy Bodin (both hamstring) all picked up issues ahead of the FA Cup tie. Jodi Jones has returned from international duty with Malta.

Cheick Diabate and Sam Stubbs could be the only absentees for the visiting side.

The two sides have met already this season with the U’s winning 4-2 in Devon, with Joseph and Brannagan scoring three in that victory. Exeter are without a win in 90 minutes from the last ten meetings.

Predicted line-up: Ed McGinty, Steve Seddon, Stuart Findlay, Sam Long, Djavan Anderson, Marcus McGuane, Lewis Bate, James Henry, Marcus Browne, Tyler Goodrham, Gatlin O’Donkor

Prediction: Oxford United 1-1 Exeter City
