Oxford United suffered a 3-1 defeat against the division’s in-form side in Sunderland. Although the scoreline didn’t reflect the U’s performance, Karl Robinson and his side left the Stadium of Light hugely frustrated.
And it wasn’t just the manager that was feeling aggrieved. We have collected the thoughts from some of the U’s fans after the result in the northeast.
One main talking point was concerning referee, Trevor Kettle. U’s fans are well aware of the man in the middle and have been frustrated by his performances in the past.
Couple of disappointing things. We know about the referee, but we had to make more noise about the goal. Only the manager did it justice. Also have issues that there were 30 seconds left in the game & nobody launched Power into the stand for the celebration. Details that matter.

Despite the scoreline, several supporters were pleased with the display. Before the game, Karl Robinson saw it as a “free hit” with lesser sides to face in the remaining eight games.
We take this and move on. The team showed at lot more positivity. Henry makes us tick.
Looking at the rest of our games we can win a lot of these.
I am positive.#COYY— Kev Jordan (@yellowblood) April 2, 2021
I’m proud of us in defeat. We gave everything in the face of another Trevor Kettle masterclass in being a cheat. Let’s build from this. Let’s channel this as motivation all remaining 8 games are very, very winnable #OUFC #COYY

The U’s welcome Accrington Stanley to Grenoble Road on Easter Monday. The defeat at the Stadium of Light leaves Oxford four points off the playoffs and have dropped to 11th as a result.
