Five Players The U’s Could Sign This Summer

|

With the season, eventually, approaching its climax, it will soon be time for clubs to start recruiting for next season. As reported by The 72, here are five players that Karl Robinson could bring to Grenoble Road next season.

Tom Flanagan

The Sunderland defender played under Robinson at MK Dons. The 28-year-old is out of contract in the summer, something that could be beneficial for the U’s. A central defender is a transfer priority for Robinson, with John Mousinho approaching 34-years-old and Rob Dickie likely heading elsewhere in the summer.

Will Grigg

Also at Sunderland, the former Wigan striker was linked with a move to Oxford in January. As reported by the 72, if Sunderland fails to achieve promotion, their £4 million man may need to be offloaded. Like Flannagan, Grigg worked with Robinson at MK Dons, but would likely be an expensive switch.

Jake Forster-Caskey

Former England Under 21 midfielder spent time on loan at Oxford seven years ago from Brighton. He is another player who will see their contract expire this summer, and played at his current club Charlton under Robinson, in addition to spending time at MK under the U’s boss.

Ben Amos

Also at Charlton is goalkeeper Ben Amos. The 30-year-old has fallen out of favour under Lee Bowyer but was the first choice when Robinson worked at the Valley. With Simon Eastwood being a possible departure, Amos would be a like for like replacement between the sticks.

Ricky Holmes

Another player that spent time on loan at Oxford, Ricky Holmes could be a useful addition. The Sheffield United man scored four times in 19 appearances with the U’s but was struck down with injuries during his spell at the club. He also worked under Robinson at Charlton.
