Oxford United defender Rob Dickie is a summer transfer target for Premier League sides Southampton and Burnley, as reports by the Football Insider suggests.

The 23-year-old has had a tremendous campaign for the U’s and has been a key player for Karl Robinson’s side.

But it is believed that the two top-flight outfits will keep a close eye on the former Reading man before making a move in the summer.

Dickie, who signed a contract extension earlier this season, has made 41 appearances for the U’s this season and has impressed in the cup competitions when Oxford faced top teams such as West Ham United, Newcastle United and Manchester City.

The defender was also a transfer target for Derby County in January, but the U’s have managed to keep hold of him for now.

It would be a major blow for Robinson and the club to lose such a key asset, but it would fit with their business model of signing young, talented players and selling them for a significant fee.

The U’s have dropped to 11th in League One following a poor run of just six points from a possible 24, but welcome AFC Wimbledon tonight.
