Justin Richards, 32 who made 5 appearances for Oxford United during his loan spell and just a couple of weeks ago signed a permanent deal will be out for the rest of the season.
The striker damaged a cruciate knee ligament in last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers.
Although surgery is not needed, the 12-week rehabilitation means he will not play again in the regular season.
It’s another injury blow for Chris Wilder and his team which appear to be cursed with the amount of injuries the team are picking up this season.
