League One Preview: Oxford United v Bolton Wanderers – Team News, Form and Prediction

|

Oxford United will be looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s frustrating loss at Accrington when the U’s take on Bolton at Grenoble Road.

Karl Robinson’s side headed to the Wham Stadium in decent form, which included three wins from four.

As for Bolton, they too have hit a purple patch. The Trotters won 2-1 against Charlton last time out and are now unbeaten in their last six games, which includes a 6-0 demolition of Sunderland.

Those results have moved Bolton up to tenth in League One but they find themselves 11 points behind the U’s, who are fifth.

Sam Long should be available for the U’s but they will assess the fitness of James Henry and deadline day signing Ciaron Brown, who was forced off against Stanley.

Elias Kachunga, Lloyd Isgrove and Josh Sheehan are all unavailable for the Trotters but they could welcome back six-goal defensive midfielder Kieran Lee.

On goals, Oladapo Afolayan has 12 this season while Amadou Bakayoko has seven. However, only three teams in the top half of the table have scored fewer than Bolton. Defensively, only two sides from the top 12 have conceded more.

Oxford are without a win in their last three meetings with Bolton and have secured just one victory from the last ten. The Trotters won the reverse fixture earlier this season and also won the only previous encounter between the two sides at Grenoble Road.

Predicted line-up: Jack Stevens, Steve Seddon, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Anthony Forde, Herbie Kane, Cameron Brannagan, Mark Sykes, Nathan Holland, Billy Bodin, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Oxford United 1-1 Bolton Wanderers
