Following the arrival of left-back Brandon Fleming, the U’s then looked to offload out of favour defender Steve Seddon.

According to Football Insider, League One rivals Cambridge United have agreed terms to take the 25-year-old on loan.

The former Birmingham man is set to be the second new defender to join Mark Bonner’s side this week following the arrival of Ryan Bennett.

Seddon has struggled to establish himself since his arrival at Grenoble Road last summer. The left-back may have turned out 58 times for the club, scoring four goals and providing five assists, but it appears he has fallen out of favour under Karl Robinson.

The defender scored on his debut, ironically against Cambridge, and started 35 times in the league last season.

However, the arrival of Ciaron Brown and dip in form led to the 25-year-old being dropped. This season, he has managed just 15 games of football so a loan move certainly suits both parties.
