Oxford United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Chris Maguire in the three two victory over Bury at the weekend at Gigg Lane was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Maguire was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Maguire had his eye in on Saturday afternoon, scoring two free-kicks to help Oxford to a hard-earned 3-2 win over struggling Bury. The U’s went behind twice, but the 27-year-old’s set-pieces restored parity, before an own goal settled proceedings at Gigg Lane.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Maguire for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Stuart Nelson (Gillingham), Chris Robertson (Wimbledon), Liam Moore (Reading), Kyle Bartley (Leeds United), Tommy Smith (Huddersfield Town), Jimmy Smith (Crawley Town), Matty Lund (Rochdale), Ryan Kent (Barnsley), Ollie Watkins (Exeter City), Billy Sharp (Sheffield United), Chris Maguire (Oxford United).

Manager – Danny Wilson (Chesterfield).
