No Positive Tests in Fourth Round of Testing

Oxford United will resume training as a result of their latest round of coronavirus tests all coming back negative.

Last week, two people at the club tested positive for COVID-19 from the third round of testing. The two individuals have been told to self-isolate for ten days as per government guidelines.

As a result, the U’s friendly against Championship opposition was cancelled by mutual respect.

But now, the rest of the team can begin training. The club are also hoping to compete in a friendly match tomorrow.

U’s boss Karl Robinson told the clubs official website: “Friday was a setback with the two positive tests but there are going to be so many ups and downs over the next few weeks and you just have to adapt and trust in the processes.

“The two who tested positive had no symptoms but the health, and the health of everyone’s families, is the big thing so they will stay away this week but will be able to return next Monday.

“Meanwhile the rest of us will keep working hard, keep moving forward and make sure we are ready for the play-off games”

The U’s will face Portsmouth in the League One play-off semi-final, but their opponents also confirmed that two of their players had tested positive for coronavirus.
