Opinion: Fosu Finds his Form

|

Since his return from injury, Tariqe Fosu has been an influential figure on the field for Karl Robinson’s Oxford United, and has played a crucial role in the clubs recent form.

He was an integral part of the side that eased past Tranmere last weekend, and the 23-year-old was phenomenal when facing Lincoln City, scoring a hat trick as the U’s recorded a record-breaking away win in the Football League.

The winger scored after just five minutes at Sincil Bank, before adding a second before half time. And his third goal was a thing of beauty, running through from the halfway line before finding the top corner from 30 yards.

After a disappointing year at Charlton fans last season, Addicks fans weren’t too disappointed to see the back of the winger, but the former Reading man has rediscovered his form which he showed at the Valley under the tenure of Karl Robinson.

Scoring on his debut in a 1-1 draw at Sunderland, his energy and work rate have improved the team. Oxford have undoubtedly one of the best midfields in League One, and Fosu has established himself among that side.

Against Tranmere, he won the first penalty, which James Henry successfully converted, and his link-up play has been crucial with the U’s attacks.

He missed the trip to Blackpool, Oxford’s first defeat of the season, with injury, and only managed a few minutes in the defeats against Burton and Fleetwood.

But, on his return to full fitness, the winger has netted four goals and added three assists this season, including two in the 3-0 over against Tranmere.
