Oxford United are “chasing” Cheltenham striker, Will Goodwin, according to journalist, Jon Palmer.

The U’s are in the market for a striker during the January transfer window and the report claims Goodwin could be a potential target.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Robins last January, has 18 months left on his current deal. The striker has also netted six goals from 16 games in League One, along with adding a further two assists. One of those goals came when the sides met at Whaddon Road earlier this season.

Palmer adds that Goodwin has been the subject of a bid from League One rivals, Charlton.

Mark Harris is the club’s only recognised senior striker, with the Welshman taking his tally to ten in all competitions with four from his last four games.

It’s likely the U’s will be looking to offload youngster Gatlin O’Donkor on loan, while Sonny Perkins was sent back to his parent club, Leeds.

U’s head coach Des Buckingham will probably want up to two more forwards, with winger Tyler Burey the only outfield signing of the January transfer window so far.
