Oxford United were held to a draw against Shrewsbury on Good Friday.

Billy Bodin put the U’s ahead but the division’s lowest-scoring side found an equaliser and held on.

Here are three talking points from the game.

Line-Up

Des Buckingham made just one change from the team that won at Port Vale before the international break.

Jamie Cumming began in goal behind a back four of Joe Bennett, Ciaron Brown, Elliott Moore and Sam Long.

Cameron Brannagan was the only central midfielder with Bodin and Ruben Rodrigues ahead of him, and Josh Murphy and Owen Dale on either flank. Mark Harris came in for Will Goodwin, who missed out altogether.

That also meant that Marcus McGuane and Fin Stevens didn’t earn a spot on the bench.

Consistent Story

After a goalless first half, it was Bodin who gave the U’s a deserved lead shortly after the break.

However, and as has been the case in several recent games, Oxford failed to add to their advantage.

The U’s had 20 attempts on goal with just four on target while the Shrews, who are the division’s lowest-scoring side, managed a goal from one of just three shots on target.

Two Points Dropped

With Stevenage dropping points again, it was another opportunity for the U’s to move clear of their promotion rivals.

However, they have dropped out of the top six given Lincoln’s recent form, as they picked up yet another win to move above Oxford on goal difference.

Every point is critical at this stage of the season and the U’s will look back at this as two points dropped, given the amount of chances they had.
